Everyone enjoyed the Weymouth Weekend at the Langstone Cliff Hotel in Dawlish with teacher Judy Valvona and musician David Hall. This page contains instructions for all of Judy’s dances, including the two morning classes and the advanced class on Saturday afternoon. Some lovely dances that we cannot wait to try again in class. David’s accordion playing was superb in both the class sessions and evening dances. He also showed excellent dancing skills when performing The Shepherd’s Crook (MacNab) with Judy and his daughter Anna at the Saturday evening Ceilidh.

Thank You Message from our Secretary – Graeme Dickson

Many thanks to everyone who came from far and wide to attend our dancing weekend at the Langstone Cliff Hotel. And what a fantastic weekend it was, surely one of the best.

Firstly, a special thanks to Judy Valvona and Dave Hall, our teacher and musician. Judy’s teaching was first class and her choice of dances perfectly pitched to our abilities. She filled us with enthusiasm throughout the weekend. Dave’s music was joyful and uplifting, just what was needed.
They worked very well as a team, perhaps because they go back some way, having danced Highland together as youngsters.

Many thanks to Val Sewry for organising the dancing weekend again. This is no small undertaking and Val always remains cheerful and calm. Her meticulous attention to detail ensures that we all have an enjoyable, stress free weekend. We are most fortunate that she has agreed to organise next years event, which is already looking extremely popular.

We must also thank our teachers, Irene, Sue and Liz for choosing the dances and calling them so well. All the dance descriptions were clear and concise, allowing us to dance our finest.

Many thanks to Graeme Salisbury for agreeing to organise and present the ceilidh, which was of a very high standard. Truly unforgettable was Judy, Dave and his daughter dancing the Shepherd’s Crook, which apparently they did not even rehearse. A group of teachers gave us a fine display of the Tea Pottery, which is on our website for your enjoyment.

Thanks to Brenda for another fascinating quiz and to Liz for the group photo and uploading Judy’s dances onto the website.

As in previous years the staff at the Langstone Cliff Hotel were universally welcoming and professional, allowing us to fully enjoy our weekend of dancing together at a fabulous location.

Best wishes to all and hope to see you next year!

Graeme
