Weymouth Scottish Country Dancers

Thank you to all who were at the Langstone Cliff Hotel for our annual dancing weekend.

Very special thanks must go to Nicola & Ian (our teacher & musician) who were superb, and to Marion & Martin who have organised the event for the last two years, having taken over from our secretary Valerie who ran the Halsway Manor weekends since 1997. Marion & Martin offered to take up the mantle after covid curtailed our weekends for two years, without them our 2022 & 2023 weekend wouldn’t have happened. Now Val Sewry, our Weymouth Committee member will be taking over the task.

Thank you to our ceilidh artistes who entertained us on Saturday evening, Gervaise, Ian (Robertson), Ian (Coleman), Colin, Michael & the West Camel SCD, and to the Weymouth callers for Friday & Saturday evening dances.

Brenda & Diana also deserve a thank you for the many quizzes they have devised for us over the years, sometimes keeping us awake into the wee small hours.

Liz & Simon took the time to surreptitiously take & sort photographs for our website, Liz has also included all the dances Nicola taught during the weekend, for anyone wishing to try them again in their own clubs.

The hotel was beautiful, the staff kind & helpful, food plentiful, good dance-floor and excellent company. There seemed to be an atmosphere of friendship & camaraderie between all the dancers, the experienced helping the less-confident and people appeared to be enjoying themselves (we hope so anyway).

So, a big thank you to everyone and we hope to see you again next year on 4^th – 6^th Oct 2024 with William Williamson as our teacher & Ewan Galloway providing the music.
